misconception that by eating beetroot your haemoglobin improves n it is rich in
iron but the actual fact for which beetroot has to be eaten is revealed here.
Beetroot is one
of the rich source of acute dietary nitrates due to which it helps in
lowering blood pressure by vasodilation action leading to improved blood
flow.. It is a rich source of nutrients such as magnesium, sodium, potassium and vitamin C, folic

Betanin the red colour component of
beetroot is not broken down completely in body which my lead to beeturia( red
urine) and reddish colour stool . which at times is misinterpreted by patients
of having some bleeding disorder for which proper consulting is required as it
is a complete harmless procedure..
According to few
studies betaine may protect against liver disease, particularly the buildup of
fatty deposits in the liver caused by alcohol abuse, protein deficiency,diabetes.
Thus , Beetroot juice
has been shown to lower blood pressure and thus may
prevent prevent cardiovascular problems which is contrary to the
popular belief about beetroot of possessing any blood cleansing properties but instead it is a good source of antioxidants.
Research published in theAmerican Heart Association journal Hypertension showed
drinking 500 ml of beetroot juice led to a reduction in blood pressure within
one hour. The reduction was more pronounced after three to four hours, and was
measurable up to 24 hours after drinking the juice.
