Abstract
Rasa medicines has been used for different therapeutic purposes since long in ayurveda but the only hitch lies in is its cumbersome and difficult time consuming methods of preparation. Drugs such as RASAMANIKYA is most commonly used medicines in routine practice.
The present study includes the altered practical methods of preparation of the above mentioned medicine keeping the basic principles of rasa aushadhies in mind.
Introduction
In the present era of modern medicine more researches are in process to study nano medicines but the same is mentioned ages back in rasa shastra as due to small particle size and effective in small doses rasa aushadhies can be considered as nano medicines which to be supported with a relevant study .
Thus rasa aushadhies have become a part of discussion world wide . but one of the biggest hindrance that comes on the way of preparing them is its difficult methods of preparation.
Difficult traditional procedures like kupipakva, bhasmikarana etc. requires more man power as well as time ,money, energy investments which at times becomes difficult for small scale production of those medicines by vaidyas them selves .Thus arises need for few changes in the traditional procedures of preparing medicines.thus, here is an effort to introduce some altered procedures to prepare most commonly used drugs such as Rasamanikya
Materials and methods: Genuine medicines were prepared as mentioned below by slight moderated methods which makes its manufacturing procedure very simple. Also, by practicing these methods the cost of production, time and man power decreased considerably.
Detail procedure:
Preparation of Rasamanikya: Instead of
traditional valuka yantra method as mentioned in rasa taringini it was prepared by sandwich
method.Shuddha hartala powder was spreaded over abhraka patra and was
covered completely with another abhraka patra . This sandwich was directly kept
over gas burner till hartala powder
was completely melted .then it
was removed from fire and once it was
self cooled ( in 5-10 min.) the upper abhraka patra was lifted easily and rasa manikya formed was collected.the whole procedure
requires approx.20 minutes.
Observation and conclusion:
In this whole study it was observed that by adopting altered procedures for preparing rasa medicines , maximum hindrances which comes on the way of preparing them were eradicated. Also,by adopting those procedures a lot of time, money ,energy was conserved and also large quantity of medicines can be prepared with ease.
Thus, it can be concluded these altered procedures should be adopted for production as basic tests reveals that by adopting such methods the quality of medicine are not getting much affected and they can be prepared with ease and at cost effective price.
